Hallimasch (Armillaria mellea), in Deutschland auch Honigpilz, Medusenhaupt, oder Wenzelpilz genannt, ist eine der häufigen Pilzarten. Büschelig sprießen die Fruchtkörper an Bäumen, Wurzeln und Strünken, ungesehen bleibt sein unterirdisches Pilzgeflecht. Auch das größte Lebewesen der Erde ist ein Hallimasch, der sich in Oregon über neun Quadratkilometer ausbreitet, mindestens 2400 Jahre alt ist und so viel wiegt wie vier Blauwale. Und er leuchtet im Dunkeln.

The Munich-based artist shows his latest work. He offers not only a comprehensive overview of his metalwork, but he builts a cabinet of wonder. Jewellery, vessels and other cast objects plus texts, drawings, found objects and their captions form an entity reminding of an old-fashioned museum installation .

The Hallimasch (German for Armillaria mellea) forms an underground bulk network fungus and offers the eponymous analogy to the work of the artist. In connection with the presentation of archaeological, biological and mathematical research results a very diverse artistic production is visible. Like a honey fungus has grown to be a many-branched organism Peter's work expands to a never-ending horizon. Hallimasch, the honey fungus even glows in the dark and not everyone knows that things are and how everything is connected.

Antonella Villanova presents from October 25th to November 22nd, Correspondences, Peter Bauhuis and Andi Gut. The exhibition Correspondences, Vessels and Dishes is based on the regular exchange of Peter Bauhuis and Andi Gut about ideas, thoughts, sketches and plans, a weekly sending and receiving, recording and processing through various channels.
Jewelry and vessels can be seen as both sender and receiver of information, and thus are part of a multidirectional communication network “We see ourselves and our works as equal participants in a wider circulation of information,“ Gut and Bauhuis explain.

All jewellery sends signals out to the world – information about the material used, the choice the wearer made in selecting the piece. But perhaps jewellery can receive information too? What if it was a mode of telecommunication? Like parabolic dishes or antennas filtering electromagnetic signals? What messages would be filtered from the white noise of contemporary life? And what would the wearer learn from the information coming through? All jewellery sends signals out to the world.

Andi Gut‘s dishes are a collection of large necklaces from nylon and metal. The title refers to those formal analogies as well as to the origin of the recycled metals he uses.

Peter Bauhuis exhibits 23 bowls, also titled dishes; they appear to look into the world. The outcome of a series of ‘experiments’ in which different metal alloys are simultanously cast within one mould.
His orifice brooches, rings and chains are staring at us like curious beings, aren‘t they receiving our reactions as well?

The exhibition includes another new collaborative necklace by Andi and Peter.

Simultanously cast vessel

Various silver 800 alloys

"After melting the wax out of the mold, alloys that oxidize to various colors are cast simultaneously into the form. There, mixing only partially, they combine into a vessel: the dynamics of the process is frozen at the moment of solidification. The work Simultanea consists of two different 800/000 silver alloys cast simultaneously. The alloy of silver, zinc, and copper oxidizes in a yellowish tone, while the second alloy is the one that is customary in the world of silversmithing, 800/000 silver with share of 20 % copper which oxidizes black. During the cooling process, which lasts several hours, the copper is enriched on the surface with a red oxidation."
